Just some gently notes on the cute blowfish...

Ohhh have it become simple to do an OpenBSD installation! Just boot from an installation CD such as install48.iso and follow the installation instructions.

Adding Software

pkg_add is your friend. Just provide it with a path to the package you want to install. The path can also be an url. An example for installing Python is provided below.

pkg_add -v ftp://ftp.openbsd.org/pub/OpenBSD/4.8/packages/i386/python-2.6.5.tgz
ln -sf /usr/local/bin/python2.6 /usr/local/bin/python
ln -sf /usr/local/bin/python2.6-config /usr/local/bin/python-config
ln -sf /usr/local/bin/pydoc2.6 /usr/local/bin/pydoc
